Although I am tolerating the low fat low diet fairly well (oh how I miss fresh veggies and loathe baby food!), I have developed a strong tendency towards constipation. I believe this is due to the “low fiber” part of my diet. I am a little concerned about this because of a strong family history of colon cancer, and fiber is said to help prevent it… What can I eat or take to relieve the constipation?

Plus he gets an iron supplement which I’m sure is causing his constipation.

He has not had a bowel movement on his own for over 3 weeks. I have had to give him a supposetory every 3 days so he’ll go. The doctor says it’s normal for a baby to not go everyday…but every 3 days, come on. Today is the 4th day of trying Karo syrup but still hasn’t gone. How long and how often do I need to give him Karo before he will go? Any suggestions or other ideas would help…
He is 10 weeks old now

Is that too much soy, and does soy cause constipation? I take magnesium and miralax for the constipation, but what foods might help the constipation (besides prunes)?

plum,peach,oat,karo,brown sugar,and try every baby formula,work well with one formula but not long before her constipation back again
im too afraid to use hypoallergenic and predigested formula because of that scary life threatning anaphylactic shock
usually low lactose used to baby with diarrhea but my pedi tell me it can be use to baby with constipation too,because lactose intolerance make some baby diarrhea and some baby constipated,but im still afraid that low lactose formula making my baby constipation become more chronic because its written for diarrhea,any opinion?

He throws up prune juice. I give him water a spoon / 3 times a day.
I dont want to give him medicine, he is allready on Prevacid.I guess prevacid & iron making him constipated. He goes very hard every 3 or 4 days. He cries a lot. Hope somebody can help me.
