What is the best way to treat constipation?

My child is mentally challenged and always had a problem with constipation to the point of impaction on several occasions. It was eventually resolved while in a nursing home. Now that he is at home, the meds, colace and dulcolax?, aren’t working. I hate to do it, but I think I may need to resort to giving him an enema. This was always traumatic for him, but I don’t know what else to do. I can’t let this go on it only gets worse. What is the best enema to give and how do I do this now that he’s an adult?

Is there anything that can help my baby’s constipation?

Here’s the story. My son is 6 months old and has had trouble going to the bathroom since day one. From 0-4 months I tried different formulas and the only formula that didn’t cause trouble was Similac (He has to take Lactose free due to a lactose problem when he was 2 months old). Now that he is on baby food and rice cereal it doesn’t matter what kind of formula he takes–he really struggles to go potty. Sometimes he struggles for several minutes and has one small little “pebble” in his diaper. I have been giving him 2 oz of prune juice every day which helps a little. Will switching to baby oatmeal help? Any other methods to try? I have tried water and Karo syrup, doesn’t work and since this is a long term problem, I don’t want to give him syrup every day.
We are actually going to the doctor tomorrow. But she seems to act like it is no big deal (at least at previous visits she did). Maybe the problem is that I need to get him a new doctor!

Hi.
One of my relatives has got an extrem constipation. First she used 5 laxative pills and they did not help. Then we went to doctor together and doctor told her to use some new laxative pills and some liquid and tablets that she must put in the a**!! Sorry!! But she even used 4-5 of them and she drank so much water, and ate fruits and juicy stuff!! She has terrible pain and after 4 days she still has not sh****!! And I just worry. I dont know what is the solution since no pills and medicine has helped her.

Is the Chicken Noodle Soup Dinner Baby Food Stage 3 going to help or worsen my child’s constipation?

My baby is 7 months old and has really bad constipation. I have been feeding him peaches pears prunes ect…. but I was wondering if the Chicken Noodle Soup Dinner Stage 3 is going to affect him in any way (bad or good) if I feed it to him??? I want to know before I feed it to him. Thank you!

How do you treat hard stool without constipation?

Someone in my family has very hard bowel movements that often block up the toilet. He already drinks a lot of water and eats a lot of fruits and vegetables, and doesn’t experience constipation or any difficulty…just toilet blockage (and it’s not the toilet because it happens in all toilets). I assume it’s because his intestines are taking too much water out of the stool but since he already drinks a lot of water, etc. I don’t know what would help. Anybody dealt with something similar?

I have constipation, i only go to the toilet like once a week (excretion) and its anoying because you should at least go 1 a day!!! Its crazy and I dont want to rely too much on laxetives ive used them they work but im rleuctant to use them again, how can I stop constipation without using laxetives

I am 23 weeks pregnant and have been suffering from constipation. I can go to the bathroom but it takes a lot of work (sorry for too much infromation!). Just wondering if the pushing will harm the fetus?
