Massage your baby's belly. Measure three finger-widths below her navel and apply gentle but firm pressure with your fingertips. Press until you feel a firmness or mass. Maintain gentle but constant pressure for about three minutes.
• If you feed your baby formula, ask her doctor about switching to a different brand. Some babies are less constipated on soy formula. And sometimes adding a teaspoon of Karo corn syrup to the formula also does the trick.
• Switch from rice cereal to barley or oat cereal, or add fruits or vegetables to her regular cereal, once your baby is ready for them.
• ask her doctor if you can boost her fiber intake by adding a teaspoon of bran to her cereal. Cut down on constipating foods like rice, bananas, and cooked carrots, and try mixing her cereal with a little bit of apple or prune juice or a few tablespoons of pureed prunes, apricots, or pears to help loosen her bowel movements.
• Increase the amount of fluid your baby drinks to help keep her stools soft. start by giving her 1 ounce of prune juice diluted with 1 ounce of water, twice a day. As her constipation improves, you can cut back.

When my daughter was constipated, I mixed the prune juice with formula because she wouldn't drink it otherwise. That worked well.
With my son, lots of pears (baby food in a jar, I mean) always worked. My doctor had said pear juice could also work. It's hard to find, but if you have a Whole Foods near you, you should be able to find it in the baby food section -- Earth's Best brand.

I found the best thing was a small amount of corn syrup in the milk. It usually ran through them within an hour to clean out the pipes!

My neice and nephew get horribly consitpated. They have been this way since birth. It's horrible the pain they go through.
Their doctor started them on a program of a Tablespoon of mineral oil in their bottle once a day. It works and they don't seem to mind the taste.
Applesauce has too much fiber (I know, doesn't sound possible) but try apple juice to help loosen her up.

Best thing to try first is a bottle of Karo Syrup and water. I give it to my son when he is stopped up.

Apple juice! Seams strange that it would do the opposite of apple sauce. It worked wonders for many children in my care. Don't water it down. I use 8 oz when the baby is hungry. This young I would stay away from citrus juice. They can cause other digestion problems.

I would stick with just prunes to help with de-constipating her. I would have thought that with just one serving of prunes, it would have done the trick? Water is also good for this. DON'T give her anything like whole-grain, bran, etc. She is too young to be eating any foods like that. The prunes really should work here soon!!!
