thats ment to be the case – boiled water. Are you giving him enough bottle – underfeeding can cause constipation. You havent been giving him a bit of rusk have you? I know mothers that give babies this far too early, their stomachs cant handle it yet.
If it continues then see your health visitor – there are baby suppositories
A few oz of cooled boiled water should help but if not try what my health visitor told me to do.
She said to put an oz of orange juice (obv without bits in!) and an oz of cooled boiled water to make 2oz.
I havent had to try this yet as my little boy has always opened his bowels when threatened with the OJ!!
He was around 5 weeks when she told me to do this so it’ll be ok for your baby.
cooled water isn’t enough for your babies constipation, you need senacot which is a little pod you put inside the babies rectum it works so go to your GP & ask for some as they are very good.
For a 7 week old the best thing is whatever your pediatrician says is okay. For us it was a couple ounces of pedialyte a day but like I said you really should ask your pediatrician.
what makes you think your baby is constipated? How long has it been since a bowel movement? They can go up to 7-8 days without having one. I would be worried about any home remedies without talking to your doctor. Good luck
My baby had constipation when she was about that age. I tried the following things:
Cooled boiled water
Gently rubbing her tummy in a circular motion
Warm bath
Moving her legs in a ‘cycling’ motion to get the bowels working
Im not sure which one worked because she was so upset I tried everything so it could have been any one or even all of them.
Good luck!
We used glycerin suppositories for our infant. It took, oh, about three seconds to work. BAM!
By the way, if the baby is on nothing but her mother’s milk, it is digested almost completely (ie, nothing to excrete). My pediatrician said the office record was 12 days without a bowel movement.
Put a teaspoon of pure fresh orange juice into a few ounces of cooled boiled water. Takes about 24hrs to have effect but it’s the best natural method out there for young babies.
Some people are against this because giving orange juice to a baby under six months can encourage an intolerance to it but personally I don’t believe using it as an occasional laxative is going to be enough to do that!
The alternative is to disolve a teaspoon of brown sugar in a few ounces of water and leave it to cool but I personally don’t like that method given that all those precious baby teeth will start to come through any time.
You will also find that rubbing baby’s lower back in anti-clockwise motions will help to ease the stools through their system. And apply a little vasline to baby’s bum to help things go “smoothly” too.
Yes it can do my little one suffered realy bad the health visitor told me if he wont drink the water add a tea spoon of pure apple juice, it done wonders..

I think thats about all you can give a baby so young. If youre feeding formula then you could try changing it to a different brand, that helped my friends baby recently.Give cool boiled water every day though as well.Good luck xx
For a baby so young, I would talk to a dr before giving her anything other than formula/breast milk. One thing I would try is laying her on her back and gently bending her knees to her chest, and message her stomach and lower back. Do that for 10-15 minutes every 30 minutes or so until she goes. =)

boil some water and let it cool but give it to them luke warm…should do the trick.
reduce the milk intake somewhat as milk does cause constipation
If baby is bottle fed cooled boiled water should help and be very sure the formula in her bottles is correctly diluted

the best way to relieve constipation is to drink more fluids so the few onces of cooled boiled water may work.
